About UVSD
Ukiah Valley Sanitation District (UVSD or District) is one of three agencies that provide wastewater treatment services in the Ukiah Valley, along with the City of Ukiah (City) and Calpella County Water District.
The City owns the collection system within a portion of its jurisdictional boundaries and a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). The UVSD owns the collection system within its jurisdictional boundaries, a part of which is within the City’s boundaries, (known as the overlap area). The District contracts via a Participation Agreement to the City of Ukiah for use of the City owned Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and for maintenance of its collection system. Calpella CWD owns its collection system and treatment plant.
Ukiah Valley Sanitation District (District/UVSD) was formed on July 6, 1954, as a dependent district, by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS Resolution No. 1267) to provide sewer service to unincorporated areas adjacent to the City of Ukiah (City) and the greater Ukiah Valley Area.
The District transitioned to an independent sanitation district with five board members, elected at-large, on April 3, 2008 (UVSD Resolution No. 08-04).
